Dr. Ayer graduated from Florida A&M University in 1994. She earned her Medical Degree at Wake Forest University 1998. She studied internal medicine at Emory University. unitl 2001 During her intenal medicine traiining, she became interested in hematology and oncology. She enrolled in Emory for fellowship in hematology and oncology. During her fellowship in hematology and oncology, she moonlighted in the bone marrow transplant ward and 24 hour Grady Memorial Scikle Cell Center and developed special interest in sickle cell.
Dr. Ayer open Central Tampa Hematology and Oncology in Tampa in 2005 while working also for Lifepath Hospice, which provided her expertise in pain management and palliative care.
Dr. Ayer practices evidence based medicine. She stays current by regularly attending conferences of the American Society of Hematology, American Society of Clinial Oncology, National Cancer Coalition Network, Moffit Cancer Center, and Florida Center for Sickle Cell Research.
Dr. Ayer is a leader in the care of sickle cell disease. Dr. Ayer started taking care of sickle-cell patients during her traiining at Emory University in In 2001. She was moonlighting at the time in their 24 hour infusion center. Since moving to Tampa, FL , she has services 100s of sickle cell patients. In 2005, she opened one of the few sickle cell infusion centers serviced by a private doctor in the country. She provides outpatient medical management and infusion services as well as inpatient hospital care. She uses evidenced based medicine to provide patient with sickle cell with the lates therapies.
Dr. Ayer has provided expert care in for benign blood diseases in for patients in Tampa and surrounding communities since opening private practice in Tampa in 2005. She regulalry keeps currents on recommended treatments by attenig the American Society of Hematology and Oncology. Society and other medical conferences.
Since beginning her private office in Tampa in 2005, Dr. Ayer has offered excellent medical oncology treatment to patients in Tampa and the surrounding communities. She stays up to date on suggested treatments by attending meetings of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, National Coalition of Cancer Network, and Moffit Cancer. She is an expert in palliative care and provides patients with the most recent approved therapies across most insurance packages.
